DISC profile and DISC analysis

An Extended DISC analysis is a tool for analyzing people’s behavioral style and drive for use in recruiting and developing individuals and teams. It creates a common language for increased self-understanding and how one’s behavior in certain situations differs from the behavioral style of others.

A DISC analysis provides understanding of and insight into the behavior and motivation of employees or job candidates. The flexible reporting options allow you to use the tool in every conceivable situation, which has communication, behavior, management, teamwork and motivation in focus.

The DISC analysis is an analysis tool on the FinxS platform. The analysis is based on Extended DISC® Behavioral Profiling, which is based on behavioral theories that have been used for over 80 years and which is based on the foundation of Dr. Carl Gustav Jung.

The DISC analysis is used to create personal profiles, therefore it is also called a DISC profile. The letters DISC represent the four main behavioral styles: Dominance, Influence, Stability and Compleance.

    What is a DISC profile?

As mentioned, a DISC profile is a tool used to analyze and describe a person’s conscious and unconscious behavior in certain situations.

The DISC profile tells something about the person’s behavior patterns, motivational factors, communication style as well as strengths and weaknesses.

This knowledge can be beneficial to the company in terms of finding the right candidate for a given position or to form effective teams. However, many companies and organizations also use DISC profiles as a management tool to gain knowledge about how they best motivate and communicate to the various employees.

At HR Solutions, we are experts in preparing DISC profiles for both companies and organizations. We specialize in Extended DISC, which provides a more nuanced picture of the different types of people.

In this connection, we also offer certification courses in Extended DISC Basic, Extended DISC Team and Extended DISC Advanced.

What characterizes the four behavioral styles in a DISC profile?

Extended DISC® analysis consists of a total of 4 overall behavioral styles: Dominance, Influence, Stability and Compleance.

The vast majority of people consist of a combination of 2 or 3 of these behavioral styles. It is essential to know all the behavioral styles in the DISC profile in order to be able to target the communication most effectively to e.g. an employee, manager or a team.

By knowing the terminology behind the DISC profile, communication and workflows become less random, as it becomes clearer how communication should take place and what motivates the individual. This knowledge can be used actively in everyday life for both employees and managers, but can also help to shed light on how a job candidate will feel about his or her upcoming work assignments.

If work tasks are far from the person’s preferred behavioral style, the person’s energy level will be drained faster. DISC profiles are therefore also often used in companies to find the candidate who is motivated by the work tasks that apply to the position in question.

Below we have attached some adjectives to what characterizes each type of behavior in the DISC profile.
