Well-being, co-operation and efficiency in staff groups is a concern for Kalundborg Municipality. In order to strengthen the well-being and development of the individual employee, as this has a significant impact on the ability to work with others, pedagogical consultants from Kalundborg Municipality have been certified in conducting personal and team analyses.
Kalundborg Municipality focuses on further developing employees' competences around entering into social and working relationships, developing and maintaining teamwork, and addressing the conflicts that inevitably arise when people have to work and function together.
" We communicate and collaborate based on ourselves. The individual's personality therefore plays an important role in how we interact with other people and how we are perceived by others. We therefore focus on both the individual and the team as a whole when optimising work processes.", explains Karin Andersen, Pedagogical Consultant, Kalundborg Municipality.
A landmark aha moment
Employee support for the initiative is attributed to the pedagogical consultants' diligence in guiding the employees involved through the analysis process. What the personal and team analysis is about, what employees can expect to get out of the process and a personal review of the results. This way, any misunderstandings are addressed.
"Employees feel heard and this creates the necessary openness. The personal analysis provides a new and more nuanced view of their own strengths and weaknesses as they are articulated and put into perspective. The increased self-understanding subsequently contributes to a better understanding of colleagues. This understanding then forms the basis for the team analysis, where we jointly focus on the competences the individual employee can contribute to the team." explains Helle Groset, Pedagogical Consultant, Kalundborg Municipality.
The positive feedback on the use of person and team analysis within the Child and Youth Services in Kalundborg Municipality means that the certified pedagogical consultants are increasingly being used to promote the well-being of employees in other areas of the municipality.
